Mederipitiya · Deniyaya · Sinharaja Rainforest Edge
A mountain-view villa on the last ridge before Sri Lanka's oldest rainforest — twenty-five rooms, one long green horizon, and a morning chorus you won't hear anywhere else.
Rainforest Soul Villa sits above Mederipitiya, on the fringe of the Sinharaja Rainforest — a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest remaining stretch of Sri Lanka's lowland rainforest. Every room opens onto the same unbroken view: forested ridgelines, tea and cardamom smallholdings, and a horizon that changes with the weather.
Mornings begin with mist pooling in the valley and a buffet breakfast — vegetarian, halal, and Asian options — served as it clears. Evenings are quiet: a garden to sit in, a kitchen that cooks to order, and a sky with none of the light pollution you left behind.
Every room type shares the same bones — a private balcony, a private bathroom, and mountain air — but each is set to catch the ridge from a slightly different angle.
Two beds, a dining nook, and a balcony framed by the ridge. The private bathroom includes a bath — a rare find this close to the forest.
Set closer to the treeline, these rooms trade the long view for total quiet — dense greenery at the window and the sound of the forest instead of the road.
Built for three or more, with room to spread out and a shared porch for evening tea once the day-trippers have gone quiet.
The villa sits within reach of the Sinharaja Forest Reserve entrance, home to leopards, purple-faced langurs, and some of the highest levels of endemic bird and butterfly life anywhere in Sri Lanka. Beyond the reserve, the surrounding hills carry tea and cardamom cultivation right up to the forest edge.
